What is PARCR
The Pennsylvania Alliance of Retirement Community Residents (PARCR) is an organization of residents of not-for-profit retirement communities [Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRCs) or Life Plan communities] which promotes the interests of CCRC residents and whose purpose is to inform and advocate in the governance of the interests of the residents within their communities. It also provides an avenue for the sharing of information and learning from other CCRC resident associations. PARCR originated in January 1995 at Bethany Village in Mechanicsburg, PA. The By-Laws were approved at the September 1995 meeting.
The Pennsylvania Alliance of Retirement Community Residents (PARCR) serves over thirty (30) Continuing Care Retirement Communities/Life Plan Communities representing over 7,500 independent residents or 18,000+ individuals in all areas of continuous care. The organization is focusing its expansion of representation throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The meetings are held quarterly. Its mission is to educate and inform residents in the CCRCs through educational and civic programs and to promote the interests of residents of continuing care retirement communities. PARCR collaborates with LeadingAge PA on issues related to the quality of life and financial security of seniors. It is also a member of the National Continuing Care Residents Association (NaCCRA).
Member communities designate three delegates from their resident council or association to serve as liaisons between PARCR and their community. Membership is also open to individual community members who are interested in taking an active role in the organization.
