Legislative Advocacy Strategies on Reasonable Liability Limitations and Temporary Nurse Aide Transition

10/19/2020 - PARCR Admin

Thanks to all who have contacted their State Senator about SB 1239 – Immunity from Civil Liability. It has been reported that this bill remains in committee.

Now the emphasis needs to be on the members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives who need to hear why liability limitations are important. Contact your state representative to encourage support for reasonable liability limitations. Attached are the talking points that LeadingAge PA has provided to us.

Here is another opportunity for advocacy. SB 1268 -Temporary Nurse Aide Transition to Certified Nurse Aide legislation provides a path to full-time employment as a certified nurse aide for those who have served admirably and compassionately as a nurse aide during the severe challenges of caring for the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Temporary Nurse Aide Transition to Certified Nurse Aide legislation, SB 1268, was unanimously passed in the senate and was referred to the House Aging & Older Adult Services Committee.

While we are reaching out to our members of both houses of the General Assembly, we have the opportunity to thank our senators for voting for this useful legislation. As we reach out to our house members we should also ask them to support Temporary Nurse Aide Transition to Certified Nurse Aide legislation. Attached is information on SB 1268.

LeadingAge PA wants to hear from us! To help LeadingAge PA with its advocacy efforts, once we have reached out to our state representatives and senators, let LeadingAge PA know. Contact Georgia Goodman, ggoodman@leadingagepa.org director of government affairs, and share your conversation and concerns.
