Seniors Decide 2016: What Do Presidential Candidates Say on Issues that Matter to Seniors?

by Marsha R. Greenfield, Published On: Jan 13, 2016

On February 17, LeadingAge and the Leadership Council of Aging Organizations are sponsoring Seniors Decide 2016, the only forum where all of the presidential candidates have been invited to talk about issues that are important to older adults.

The forum will be held in Arlington, VA, and streamed live throughout the country. This is a critical time in the election calendar – just before Super Tuesday, March 1, when 15 states hold their primaries.

This is your opportunity -- to urge the candidates to attend, to submit questions for the candidates, to host a watch party at your community for your residents, their families, and your staff. Help us show the campaigns the importance of addressing issues of importance to our field and the people we serve.

Go to Seniors Decide 2016 to:

  • Record a short video posing a question to the candidates that will be posted to the website.
  • Send questions to candidates.
  • Organize a watch party to participate from anywhere in the country – see the “We’ll Be Watching” page on the website and fill out the webform so we can track turnout.

As nonprofit organizations, Leadingage and its members do not campaign on behalf of candidates or make political contributions. However, we want candidates from both parties to focus on issues that matter to seniors. We want the candidates to discuss the policies they will pursue addressing these issues if they are elected.
